The Brentwood Grove is an excellent online news source for members of the local community. Founded in 2009 by a group of like minded journalists, Grove Publishing has 6 staff members and 7 neighborhood contributors. Upon visiting the site, one can read on local topics such as health, history, opinion, business, cartoons & humor, crime beat, education, arts & entertainment, Brentwood TV, politics, real estate, science, sports, and style.
Another exciting and new feature of the Brentwood Grove is Grove Radio. On September 13, 2009, the Grove aired its first radio episode of its new weekly radio podcast report. Now community members can tune in every Sunday to hear local updates on various pertinent topics. In the first episode, there was a discussion on the pros and cons of section 8, a sports report by Lions Radio announcer Tom Dempsey, some independent music, and details on a carjacking suspect that the police are in pursuit of. | Brentwood Labeled Hot Spot For West Nile Virus
Brentwood is at a higher risk than other areas for West Nile virus, according to the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District. The conclusion is based on a recent state report that analyzed the number of dead birds found around the county, whether or not they tested positive for the virus.
The city of Brentwood now accounts for 11 of the 35 birds that have been recovered and tested positive for West Nile. Four dead birds that recently turned up in East County have tested positive for the virus, including three in Brentwood. Specifically, the public reported finding birds at Breakwater Way and Minnesota Avenue, at Second and Pine streets, and at Clearview Drive and Longleaf Court. A fourth turned up in Byron at Camino Diablo Road and Byron Highway.To read more about the West Nile virus, Click Here.
