Brentwood Hits Milestone Mark Of Donations For Our Soldiers
| Brentwood Hits Milestone Mark Of Donations For Our Soldiers Operation Creekside's mission seemed simple: Collect donations of food goodies, hygiene articles and socks to send out 32 care packages to troops deployed overseas. To date that would be 1,000 in all.
"Two days ago we didn't think we'd have enough to fill two boxes," said volunteer and go-to guy Bob Dickson, as he looked around at the dozens of good-size boxes sitting on the church floor waiting to be opened and sorted. "Did anyone else get a chill?" Dickson said, shrugging and shaking his shoulders and arms just a bit.
After filling up a table's worth of boxed Pop-tarts, several boxes high, McClelland calls all the volunteers around the table. He says, "You want to hear how I got $200 worth of Pop-tarts for a dollar?"
